Marine Ecologist | Science Communicator
My obsession began early.
For as long as I can remember, I've had a need to spend as much of my time as
possible in, on, or at least thinking about the ocean.
As a child, fascination with patterns made on sandy beaches by soldier crabs,
entire ecosystems contained within rockpools and waves shared with juvenile dolphins had me completely hooked.
I have been a diver since the age of fourteen and spend my life exploring and trying to understand the vast, blue unknown. I am also passionate about education and believe that the only way to protect our natural resources and environments is to empower people with information so that everyone understands just how precious, valuable and irreplaceable they are.
I am an active scientific researcher, based at the University of New South Wales and the Sydney Institute of Marine Science. I am also a freelance science writer and science communicator.
